Yorkshire Day 2020 - Save It Like Safe Hands
Communications provider Plusnet is celebrating Yorkshire Day (Aug 1) by giving the nation the gift of value – the Yorkshire way. To help spread the money-saving savviness further they have teamed up with legendary goalkeeper David Seaman to write the ultimate guide to saving.
The book, Save It Like Safe Hands, includes top tips and tricks for bagging a bargain and getting more value from all aspects of life, based on David’s world-class saving abilities and thrifty Yorkshire upbringing. The region is well known for savvy spending habits and straight-talking attitude, and the guide will help the nation save the 'Yorkshire way'.
Yorkshire-based Plusnet is celebrating this trait on the region’s very own national holiday, Yorkshire Day, and encouraging the rest of the nation to follow suit – with the one-off book available to download on Amazon from 29th – 2nd August, as well as the Plusnet website. The celebrations don't stop there, Brits can get value the Yorkshire way with Plusnet who are taking 25% off the price of its broadband for the period of 15th July – 4th August – available for £17.99 per month*.
The book takes a tour through David's life as a savvy saver, covering a range of money-saving tips from Yorkshire's biggest expert in saving – from his younger days bartering for scraps in the chippy to his football days sweet-talking for second-hand cars.
- The Savvy Speaker: How to talk your way to a good deal the friendly Yorkshire Way. As David says, “every ‘no’ is a step further towards a ‘yes’”
- Bagging a Bargain: David’s ultimate tips for shopping around, comparing prices, and never paying more than you have to
- Knowing Your Worth: How repeat custom and loyalty equals friendly freebies – from getting to know your butcher to out-dealing a dealer
- Turning Pennies to Pounds: How David’s Yorkshire upbringing helps him make every day small savings and turn pennies into pounds (did you know you can get two brews from a teabag?)
Author of the book, David Seaman said: “As a born and bred Yorkshireman, saving’s in my blood. So it’s been great working with Plusnet to share a few of my own tips for bagging a bargain over the years. There’s never been a better time for the nation to start thinking a bit more like us when it comes to getting more for less, so this Yorkshire Day, download your copy and see how you can make some champion saves of your own.”
Sam Calvert, Marketing Director at Plusnet said: “Being from Yorkshire, we're obsessed with giving our customers the best value – and what better day to celebrate this money-saving attitude than on Yorkshire Day, with one of Yorkshire’s most famous savers. We hope people can be inspired by David’s tips and use them to bag a bargain the Yorkshire Way.”

We pride ourselves on keeping things simple, giving great value broadband and offering the best customer service out there. And we’ve got a stack of awards to prove it as we were recently awarded ‘Best Broadband Provider’, ‘Best Value Provider’, ‘Best Customer Care’ at the Broadband Genie Awards 2019. We've also won ‘Best Value Pay Monthly’ at Uswitch’s Broadband and Mobile Awards 2020 and ‘Best Provider Customer Service’ for seven years in a row in. It’s an award voted for by the public, which makes us feel extra proud.
